Polynesian History

The Polynesian Resort has been part of Ocean Shores since the area’s early development in the 1960s and ’70s, when the peninsula was shaped into a beach destination. Famous former employees

Part of the Polynesian’s history includes a connection to one of the Pacific Northwest’s most recognizable musicians. Before rising to fame, Kurt Cobain worked at the Polynesian as a janitor/maintenance employee, adding an unexpected layer to the property’s story—one that ties it to the region’s cultural legacy.

Iconic previous guests

The Polynesian has also hosted its share of notable guests. John Wayne once stayed in the penthouse unit 402 while filming McQ, linking the resort to a moment in film history and adding another chapter to its coastal story.
